Russian icon Madonna Clemente Umilenie painted on wood 21x17 cm. The Russian icon is hand painted and made in Russia, according to the principles of the Byzantine - Russian school. The orthodox icon is antiqued with the use of pictorial techniques, covered with gold leaves which enrich the icon. This represents the Virgin Umilenie, hand painted embellished with gold leaf details that add a rich and detailed visual dimension to the representation. In the icon, Madonna holds the Child in her arms in an exchange of loving glances. Jesus, holding a roll of paper in his left hand, rests his cheek against Mary's, while his feet visibly hang from his chiton. On the back of the icon, there is a ring to allow easy positioning on a wall and is supplied with a guarantee certificate which certifies its authenticity and quality of workmanship. The technique used is craquelé which gives the image an antique tone.
