The Madonna, with her face turned towards the sky, is depicted here on a candid white cloud as she ascends to Heaven, carried by three sweet angels who observe her from the bottom up.Note the skill of the Italian artisans, demonstrated not only in the application of the glass eyes to the face of the statue, but also in the use of gold leaves to give brightness to the robe and to decorate the blue mantle with stars in relief, almost like a starry sky.
