The two subjects are in fact portrayed cheek to cheek and are held in a warm and intense embrace, with the Mother holding the Child with both arms. The latter, in turn, is portrayed in the act of giving her, or preparing to give her, a tender kiss on the cheek. Present on the mother's face, however, is the afflicted and anguished look. The Madonna is portrayed with a sad and absorbed expression as she is aware of the fate that will befall her Son. Nonetheless, she will not shy away from accepting the divine will and will be willing to accept the sacrifice of the Son for the redemption of humanity. The egg is painted by hand by Russian painters expert in freehand painting from the school of miniatures, a school born in the era of Imperial Russia. The Lady of Korsun egg, including the pedestal, has a total height of 24 cm, while the egg alone measures 14 and has a diameter of 10 cm.
