Hand painted matryoshka Madonna Iverskaya 25 cm. The Russian matryoshka is made up of 7 dolls and the main alcove which is inlaid and hand painted. The face of Jesus is painted in the upper part and two angels on the sides, everything is applied in gold leaf which highlights the most important details. On the second doll, we see the Madonna of Iverskaja depicted with the Baby Jesus in her arms, also known as the Madonna of Odigitria. The right hand of the Child Jesus points to the Mother as a sign of blessing while he holds the scroll of the Holy Scriptures in his left hand. Mary's right hand points to the Son, savior of humanity.Later dolls feature paintings of Christ Pantocrator with the closed book, St. Nicholas, and the angel Michael.
