Russian painted icon Our Lady of Jachroma 14x10 cm. Two pilgrims, one of whom would become the holy monk Cosmas, tired from the journey, stopped to rest at a spring. One fell asleep and Cosmas suddenly saw a light and heard: ''Welcome and consider the words of life, show behavior pleasing to God, and desire the joy of the righteous, to then enjoy eternal goods''. The light came from an icon of the Mother of God, which had appeared on a tree. As soon as the first pilgrim came into contact with the icon, he received healing. Cosmas with the prodigious image went to the Kiev Caves monastery and became a monk. He moved away 40 km from Vladimir, on the bank of Jachroma, to the place where he found the icon and built a church dedicated to the ''dormition of the Mother of God''. The feast of the icon coincides with the following day of the apparition: October 14th. This orthodox icon is hand-painted and is a faithful copy of the original, dating back to the 16th century. It was made on a solid lime wood board, covered in gold leaf. Measures 14x10 cm.
