It is a faithful reproduction of one of the most famous archetypes found in galleries, museums or Orthodox churches, dating back to the 18th century. This orthodox icon was created according to the principles of the Byzantine-Russian school of icons and is completely hand painted on a solid linden wood panel covered with gold leaf. The antiqued effect is the result of using the craquele technique.
It is a type of Marian icon, in this specific case the one called ''of Cyprus'' is depicted, the original version of which seems to date back to the end of the 4th century. The Mother of God is represented frontally, seated on a throne like an empress and in her lap she holds the Divine Son, also in a majestic attitude. On the sides, there are two angels facing her with their hands covered as a sign of respect.On the back of the icon, there is a ring for hanging, a guarantee certificate and a small space dedicated to the history of the icon. Delivered in an elegant wooden box.
