Icon Virgin Console my Pain 14x10 Russia hand painted.Hand-painted Russian orthodox icon of real size 14x11 cm which reproduces the Virgin ''Console my pain''. This religious icon is a faithful copy of one of the most famous archetypes of this iconographic type, dating back to the 18th century, and is made according to the principles of the Byzantine-Russian school of icons. It was hand painted on a solid linden wood panel covered with gold leaf and it was given an antique effect with a craquelé technique.Characteristic of this iconographic type is that the Madonna rests a hand on her face, while the little Jesus extends a parchment, a representation of the Gospel, whose inscription invites us to judge with justice, mercy and goodness.The icon was brought to Moscow by the Cossacks in 1640 and became famous for the miracle it performed in the second half of the 17th century: a seriously ill woman had a vision of the icon with the suggestion that she go to Moscow in her presence, though it was a long way from that city. The woman managed to get there and the miraculous power of the icon healed her instantly.On the back there is a ring to hang it. It includes a guarantee certificate and a small space dedicated to the history of the icon. Delivered in an elegant wooden box.
