This icon depicts the Mother of God of Vladimirskaya Tenderness, faithfully reproducing the original. The ancient icon that is being revived is one of the most venerated in Russia. It was painted in Constantinople at the beginning of the 12th century, then moved first to Kiev, then to Vladimir and finally to Moscow, where among the miracles attributed to it it also defended the city from the invading Tatars. She is called Madonna of Tenderness because of the affectionate gesture of the Virgin, who holds the Child close to her and carries him cheek to cheek with a loving attitude.
