The icon of the Mother of God of Kazan (or Kazanskaya) is one of the most widespread Marian icons by Russians. The miraculous manifestation of this icon dates back to 1579, after 27 years that Ivan the Terrible had subdued the region, an icon appeared to strengthen the converted local inhabitants in the Christian faith and to arrange all the others well. It differs from the others because Baby Jesus is always represented frontally up to the knees and his blessing hand is the only visible one.
The feast of this icon is celebrated on July 8 and October 22 in memory of the liberation of Moscow and Russia from the invasion of the Poles in 1612.
The icon of Our Lady of Kazan is hand-painted in Romania, in a Romanian style, following the traditional iconographic techniques. It is delivered in a blue box with satin interior and includes a certificate of guarantee.
