Elegant religious icon completely hand painted by Romanian master craftsmen with a particular technique called "lighting" useful for giving light to the icon, but above all to the faces. Light, as the tradition of the Byzantine icon dictates, is painted with gold, that is, it manifests itself as pure light. The icon of the Mother of God Donskaya (i.e. of the Don) is attributed to the famous artist Theophanes the Greek. This icon celebrates the victory in 1380 against the Tartar invaders on the Kulinovo field of the Russian armies. After the victory, the icon Mother of God Donskaya was donated by the Don Cossacks to the great prince Dimittrij Donskoj, leader of the army. The Mother of God turns her smiling and tender gaze towards the Child who is holding in her right hand and touches that of the Child with her cheek. The Child has his legs uncovered and with his left hand he holds a scroll because it is the word of God and with his right hand he makes a blessing gesture.The icon of the Mother of God Donskaya is delivered in a velvet box and satin inside.
