Precious orthodox icon hand painted by Romanian master craftsmen with a particular technique called "lighting'' which gives light to the fundamental parts of the icon especially faces, which are completed by very clear touches and highlights that emphasize the eyes. The central theme of the icon is in fact light, which is painted with gold, that is, it manifests itself precisely as light, pure light. The icon Mother of God of the Sign or `` Great Pananghia '' found in 1919 in the deposits of the Spas-Preobrazhenskij monastery in Yaroslavl. The Mother of God of the Sign indicates a frontal figure of Mary standing with her arms outstretched in the gesture of praying. Hands raised as a sign of prayer, a symbol of pietas, of the soul of the deceased, of the faithful who turn to Christ. The Lord is represented on the Virgin's breast inside a clypeus, depicted with the broad forehead full of divine intelligence that already makes the sign of blessing. On either side of Mary's head are the archangels Michael and Gabriel, also inside a clypeus. The body of the Virgin is covered by a long robe, which barely reveals the tip of the shoes.This accentuates the upright position of the Virgin and which recalls her courageous gesture of standing at the foot of the cross.The Icon of the Mother of God of the Sign comes complete with a certificate of guarantee and a brochure with the history of the icon.
