Icon of Mother of God Yaroslavskaya, takes its name from the city of Yaroslavl, an ancient and important Russian city. It is an important icon of the Russian Church: it was brought in Yaroslavl by the holy princes Basilio and Costantino. In honor of this religious icon, the lower church was consecrated in the Saint Elia cathedral of Yaroslavl. This icon is a splendid example of a Marian icon of the Tenderness type (in Russian Umilenie) where the faces are always affectionately brought together. The hands of the Virgin are united by the vertical line of the mantle, expressing respect. In Slavic icons, the initials of the the Mother of God and Jesus Christ are always in Greek letters.
The Our Lady of Yaroslavskaya is hand-painted in Romania, in a Romanian style, following the traditional iconographic techniques. It is delivered in a blue box with satin interior and includes a certificate of guarantee.
