The icon is painted on canvas on which numerous layers of plaster are affixed, laid on a wooden base.The icon depicts the Mother of God Muromskaya, a revered icon that owes its name to Constantine of Murom, who at the beginning of the twelfth century brought it to the city of Murom where she tried to convert pagans to Christianity. They were particularly hostile to the idea of Faith, but immediately changed their mind and asked for baptism on their own once they saw the icon.This Muromskaya icon is delivered in an elegant blue velvet box with a satin lining and includes a certificate of authenticity and a pamphlet containing the history of the icon. Any imperfections are to be attributed to the completely handmade nature of the work, performed according to traditional techniques.
