The base is a linden wood tablet, on which plaster, dark colors and light colors are applied in order following the technique called illumination. All the gold parts depict light as per the Byzantine iconographic tradition.The Holy Family features Joseph, Mary and the Child Jesus, all three with golden halos and made in a typically Byzantine style.A unique feature of this icon is the craquele effect and jagged edges, both obtained by hand with particular techniques. Unlike the other icons, in this one there are two layers of plaster, one horizontally and one vertically. As the lower layer dries out, it leads to the formation of small cracks on the surface. Additionally, the gauze is spread over only a portion of the front, and the excess plaster is knifed away from the sides, creating a unique effect.The Holy Family icon measures 40x30 cm and has a thickness of approximately 2 cm, on the back there is a small caption of the icon and its creation and also of a hand painted product certificate.
