This Crucifixion icon also known as "The Cross", has been a characteristic feature and central theme of Christianity since the beginning of time and it brings together in a single sign the event of cosmic significance full of meaning and sacramental force. The religious icon shows the body of the crucified Christ who, although dead, retains his composure as King of Glory: the head is inclined towards his right, the body is slightly curved and the outstretched arms seem to not support any weight, but contain all the dimensions of time and space in a single embrace. The Cross is planted on Mount Golgota which literally means "place of the Skull" to refer to the skull of Adam who is in fact in a dark cave and is washed by the blood dripping from the wounds of the crucifix. With this the interpretation of the Fathers of the Church want to make explicit the symbolic value of the Cross as a Tree planted in Paradise that unites Heaven, Earth and the Underworld to give the fruits of life. The Crucifixion of Jesus icon shown here is hand-painted in Romania, in a Romanian style, following the traditional iconographic technique. It is delivered in a blue box with satin interior and includes a certificate of warranty.
