Russian icon painted decoupage, Sweet Kissing icon. Measures 17x13 cm.
This beautiful solid wood religious icon of Sweet- Kissing also known as, Tenderness was designed and built according to ancient Russian techniques with transverse beams, which help prevent the curvature of the wood over time. The orthodox icon is hand colored through the mixed technique of painting and decoupage. The halos are painted with various shades of gold, similar to pure gold.
