Russian icon Annunciation repainted in the second half of the twentieth century.This precious Annunciation icon on an ancient panel and depicts the meeting between Mary and the Archangel Gabriel at the moment of the Annunciation.On that occasion the Archangel, messenger of God, announced to the Virgin the virginal conception and the imminent birth of the Messiah.In the icon, Mary is with her head bowed listening to the words addressed to her by the angel with a gesture of solemn blessing.The 19th century panel is repainted by hand with egg tempera by the iconographic masters of the Moscow Golden Ring in the second half of the 20th century. It measures 31x26 cm and is delivered with a certificate of authenticity.
