Our Lady of Tikhvin ancient Russian icon hand painted restored 30x26 cm. The icon of the Tikhvin Mother of God is one of the most revered holy images in Russia, first discovered in 1383 near Novgorod. Tradition tells of four apparitions of this icon in the 16th century, with the last one occurring on the left bank of the Tikhvinka River, where the Church of the Dormition of Our Lady and the Tikhvinski Monastery were subsequently built in 1560. From an iconographic point of view, the image follows the Odigitria style, characterized by the Virgin who with one hand indicates the Child Jesus, sitting on her knees, while with her right hand she blesses the Mother. This gesture symbolizes the Madonna who shows men that the path towards Christ is the true path to salvation. Therefore, this icon is not only an object of devotion, but also serves as a spiritual guide to God and eternal salvation.
