Patriarch cross made of bronze and dating back to the early 1800s, measuring 37.4x23.5 cm. This Russian cross is characterized by the polychrome enamel used, blue and light blue for the background and light yellow for the halos. The cross is articulated around the figure of Jesus crucified, represented according to the Byzantine tradition. Around him are represented numerous scenes from the Old and New Testament, plus a depiction of St. Nicholas of Bari and some Marian images. The two upper squares have an elegant typically Byzantine cusp shape, while the part at the top is closed by a comb-like rays culminating in six-winged angels.Jesus crucified has Jerusalem at his feet, while under the cross we see the skull of Adam, a symbol of how the whole of humanity has been forgiven of original sin through the sacrifice of Christ. On the side, we see some saints in Deesis, that is in prayer for the intercession of Christ. Above him, we see Jesus the Savior holding the globe of the world in his hand and the dove of the Holy Spirit below him. Still below you can see two angels awaiting the arrival of the body and soul of Jesus.
