It is covered by an ancient riza, a copper and silver covering which allows the painting and its general state to be preserved over time. In this case, the riza is further embellished by a part with honorific embroidery, in which pearls and stones are sewn into an embroidered fabric part.The narration about the miraculous story of the original Kazan Mother of God tells of her discovery following the apparition of the Madonna in a dream of a little girl in 1579. Following the discovery, the artifact was brought to the Kazan church, becoming the protector of the capital of St. Petersburg. Prayers were also addressed to her during the Nazi siege of Leningrad.The Kazan icon is made with egg tempera on a solid linden wood table and is shipped with a box set and an appraisal carried out by an expert enrolled in the register of experts.
