Icon Christ Pantokrator Russia painted of the nineteenth century. 55x40 cm.The icon of Christ Pantokrator is the most widespread and well-known Christological Icon that idealizes the greatest glory and power of Christ. In this type of icon the iconographer tries to express, particularly in the face, the ineffable reality of God made Man. The latter has helmeted hair that falls on the nape, a spacious forehead, large eyes, a rather elongated nose, narrow lips and small ears, which emphasize the listening attitude.Jesus is depicted in a blessing position with a full frontal figure and an extremely expressive face. With his left hand, he holds the open Gospel facing the faithful, while with his right he blesses, according to the Orthodox / Byzantine rite, keeping the palm of the hand open and the thumb and ring finger joined.On the pages of the Gospel, appears the written evangelical rituals that vary according to the image. Also in the halo appear the typical Greek letters indicating ''He who is''. On the sides of the Pantokrator are St. Michael and the guardian angel.To make this Christ Pantocrator icon, egg tempera on wood is used and the actual measurements are 53.5x41.5 cm.This icon is delivered with a certificate drawn up by an expert enrolled in the register in Russia.
