The name of this icon comes from the fifth verse of the Akathist hymn ''Console my soul's pain''. The icon depicts the intimate suffering of Mary who saw her only son die unjustly on Golgotha. Mary lived those long years of pain, loneliness and abandonment until she received the consolation of her sentence in the Dormition.In the work she is represented with her right hand at her temple sad and thoughtful with Christ floating freely in her mantle, as if she lived in an incorporeal dimension. In the cartouche appears an inscription that quotes ''Judge according to justice, operate with mercy and magnanimity''.The Assuage my Sorrows Icon of the Mother of God is shipped together with a velvet and blue satin box and an appraisal made by a registered expert.
