Antique Russian icon The Softening of Evil Hearts 31x25cm 19th century.Antique Russian icon 31x25 cm made in Central Russia in the 19th century depicting a version of the Softening of Evil Hearts.In this interpretation we can observe the Mother of God dressed in clothes embellished with golden embroidery and accessories, and holds the Child Jesus with her left arm, also wearing precious clothes and accessories.The gazes of the two subjects meet as a sign of affection, but the fact that there is no contact between the two heads emphasizes the divine nature of the Son. The latter, with facial features similar to those of an adult, performs a blessing gesture with his right hand and holds a golden Gospel in his left hand.Focusing on the Virgin's chest, one can clearly distinguish between the pearl necklace and the manifestation of the Holy Spirit.On the golden background the Greek initials of the two subjects can be seen, respectively ''Mother of God'' and ''He who is''.There are other versions of the same subject which represent the Madonna without the Child and with 6 swords piercing her heart downwards.Several miracles are attributed to this famous icon, among the most important we mention the outpouring of myron, or perfumed chrism oil, and the bleeding from her left shoulder. Thanks to these two miracles performed by the icon of the Mother of God, the faith of many people was strengthened and many new people were led towards the Lord's path.It is a wooden tablet to which a canvas fixed with levkas, a natural glue, has been applied and subsequently covered with gold leaf and painted with egg tempera colors.The certificate of authenticity and guarantee of the same can be read in the center of the back of the icon. The Softener of Evil Hearts icon is delivered in a blue velvet box.
