They were discovered and walled up alive inside the cave by the emperor. The boys lay down on the ground to die in the grace of God and unexpectedly fell into a very deep sleep. When they woke up, surrounded by amazed faces, they found a shepherd who had knocked down the wall to use the cave as a shelter for the beasts. The seven discovered that they had subdued until 450, the time of Emperor Theodosius II.
