Ancient Russian icon Crucifixion Stauroteca XVIII century 40x33cm.Ancient Crucifixion icon from central Russia made on a wooden tablet on which there are 4 scenes and 5 ancient bronze elements embedded in the table.The scenes present were hand painted with egg tempera and present the 3 Marys, the Deposition of the Cross and the Deposition in the Sepulchre.The 5 set bronzes depict:the central Byzantine cross with polychrome enamels (white and blue), the Byzantine cross in the lower right corner, 2 triptychs presenting the Mother of God of Tikhvin and the Joy of All Who Suffer and a bronze St Nicholas of Myra.The orthodox icon is a Stauroteca, a name deriving from a particular form of reliquary made to contain fragments of the Cross of Christ.The Crucifixion Stauroteca icon is delivered in a velvet box and with a certificate of originality.Measurements: 40cm x 33cm.
