This ancient icon of Christ Pantocrator dates back to the XIX century. The icon depicts Jesus Christ in his hieratic position, that is to say as a priest. His traits are intense and expressive. The style of this icon recalls the school of Simon Usakov, a refined and famous painter at the court of the king. Christ hold the Gospel book in his left hand while, in his right hand, he blesses the faithful according to the Orthodox/Byzantine ritual, with the open hand and joined thumb and fourth finger. In this icon Christ is severe, in fact, the Pantocrator is also called "the sovereign judge with terrible eyes" but, at the same time, Christ is blessing the faithful and invite them to listen to and follow him.
