The Marian Dormition is the most important celebration of the Christian East and it corresponds to the celebration of the Assumption of Mary in the western culture.
In the icon Gabriel announces to Mary her death; she asks to see the Apostles, she prays on the Mount of Olives and makes her funeral bed. It is then that the Apostles gather together in Jerusalem for the Lamentation.
Behind the bier, Christ appears and he holds the soul of the moth...

This small icon is very refined, hand made by the painters of the Russian school of Palekh.

Non do 5 stelle perché avrei preferito che i braccialetti fossero arrivati incartati tutti singolarmente... E invece sono arrivati in 4 sacchetti, raggruppati per colore. Quindi io ho dovuto acquistare a parte i sacchetti trasparenti per andarli ad inserire nella bomboniera.
