This Russian-style icon was hand painted by a Greek monk in 1383, and in that year legend says that it would reveal itself on the banks of the Tychvinka river, where the sanctuary was later built.The orthodox icon is made in Poland, hand painted on wood and decorated with a hand-beaten riza which protects the item from blackening over time. The Tikhvin icon may differ slightly due to the high craftsmanship. It includes a certificate of guarantee and its history.
