The crucifix handcrafted out of lenga wood depicts Mary holding the body of Christ on the cross.
The wax finishing is done completely by hand.The timber comes from Lima, Peru and is brought to the Andes Mountains, where the workshops are located, at an altitude between 2800 and 3600 meters.Here the timber must age from 1 to more years, depending on the thickness. When the humidity drops to 12-13% it is ready to be used. The drawing, first performed on paper, is shown on the wooden board.Subsequently, the wood is sculpted with the help of chisels and gouges.In the first phase of processing it is roughed out defining the figures, then with other tools worked patiently until the complete realization of the image with all the details.All the young sculptors graduated from the "Don Bosco" art school and received the tools to be able to work by hand.The crucifix cross is made in Peru by local artisans.

La foto non rende assolutamente merito all'oggetto in questione, in quanto le giuste proporzioni, la cura dei particolari e l'abbinamento dei materiali usati, caratterizzano ancor di più lo stile e la bellezza di questo Crocefisso. Per questi motivi ho deciso che un'intera parete, spoglia di qualsiasi altro oggetto, è diventata la sua base, così da mettere in risalto ciò che rappresenta, oltre che la sua dolce e splendida bellezza
