Cross of Hope Tifernate Workshop 20 cm Jubilee 2025The Cross of Hope is a crucifix designed by Stefano Lazzari of the Tifernate Workshop, featuring a double-sided design that embodies symbols and values associated with the theme of the Jubilee 2025, whose motto is "Pilgrims of Hope."
The cross, inspired by the layout of St. Peter’s Basilica and Square, depicts Christ on the front. He is not portrayed in suffering but as someone who serenely gave his life for humanity. At His feet lies Mount Golgotha, the symbolic site of the crucifixion.
On the back, a pilgrim is shown symbolically entering St. Peter's Square at the end of a journey of hope and salvation, representing the path toward redemption.
For its creation, Tifernate Workshop selected sculptor Fausto Schirato for the modeling and foundry expert Marino Vigolo for the casting. Schirato meticulously handcrafts every detail of the plaster model. The chosen casting method is the lost-wax process, regarded as the most prestigious, where each piece is crafted individually.
After preparing a rubber mold to create the wax prototypes, these are coated with plaster inside a cylinder and then baked at high temperatures until the wax melts away. Molten brass is then poured into the cylinder to form the cross.
The resulting model is refined and engraved. Each piece is individually painted and burnished, with patination accentuating the contrasts of the design. A protective coating is then applied to preserve the artwork over time, ensuring the eternal significance it represents.
The cross is presented in an elegant red case with two plexiglass stands inside, including a spare. Each cross is numbered and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity featuring a QR code, which provides additional information about the Cross and the Tifernate Workshop when scanned.
Produced in Italy by the Tifernate Workshop, the cross can also serve as a wall crucifix. It includes a hole at the top that can be fitted with a small nail provided in the package
