Woman with hens for an 18 cm nativity scene.
The woman tends to her animals: the gesture of the hand, she throws grains on the floor and the rooster and hen approach. Her care is rewarded with fresh eggs. Handmade in the artistic laboratory of Angela Tripi, in terracotta and cloth, with skill and attention.Angela Tripi, a Sicilian artist, manages to create shepherds characterized by an extraordinary wealth of details, charisma and expressiveness.A special characteristic is that the nativity statues have completely formed bodies, made of terracotta and then "dressed" in cloth. Normally, terracotta nativity statues, for example the Neapolitan one, are built from a skeleton covered with fabrics to which the extremities are applied. In her works, the artist tells a story: each figurine is depicted at a specific moment in their life, telling us a story, before and after that moment.Details such as; tense muscles, tendons, expression lines and hands (open and with well-defined fingers) are clearly displayed. The artist succeeds in giving each piece an unrepeatable realism: the statues will never be equal to each other, making each one truly one of a kind. The statue is adapted for a 18 cm scene.
