Mary holds Baby Jesus in her arms: the whole nativity scene is a mixture of wonderful looks. Baby Jesus stares at his Mother, she gives him a sweet smile slightly hinted and looks at Joseph. The man is amazed but his chest is filled with joy. All the statues are hand-made, in terracotta and cloth, with skill and care by the Sicilian artist Angela Tripi. Normally the statues of the traditional crib are made with a skeleton made of cloth and with terracotta ends (the head, hands and feet). In his works, the artist tells a story: each statue is depicted in a moment of his life, thus allowing us to understand the existence of a before and after. Characteristic details often emerge as tense muscles of a slave or the expression lines of an elderly person. Angela Tripi succeeds in giving each shepherd an amazing realism, never seen before and unrepeatable: her works will never be the same, precisely because they are unique.
