The fisherman figurine is sitting on a crate and proceeds to remove the fish from the nets. Work and effort were rewarded with a basket full of fish. The saltiness has created deep wrinkles on his face. Suddenly something distracts him and he looks at the sky: something lights up, he will soon know that the Savior is born. All the nativity figurines are handcrafted out of terracotta and cloth by Angela Tripi. Angela Tripi manages to create nativity figurines characterized by an extraordinary expressive power with great skill.It must be remembered that these shepherds have their bodies completely formed, while normally, for example in the Neapolitan crib, they are built with a fabric skeleton to which the ends are applied. The statues of Angela Tripi instead have the terracotta body "dressed" in cloth. The peculiarity that makes these statues of the nativity unique is that they communicate with each other and with the observer through the look and the facial expression. Each nativity figurine is depicted at a precise and particular moment in their everyday life. Details such as muscles or expression lines, as well as hands in particular positions (open and with well-defined fingers) often emerge clearly. Angela Tripi succeeds in giving each shepherd an astonishing realism: her shepherds will never be equal to each other making each one unique. Adapted for a 30 cm nativity scene.
