The man carries a heavy load on his shoulders, it is clear from his gait and in the way he walks. Suddenly, he stops: on his face displays an expression of wonder at observing a light that ignites the sky. He will soon discover that the Savior has arrived. Angela Tripi manages to create statues characterized by an extraordinary expressive power with great skill. It must be remembered that these nativity figurines have their bodies completely formed, while normally, for example in the Neapolitan nativity, they are built with a fabric skeleton to which the end pieces are applied. The statues of Angela Tripi instead have a terracotta body "dressed" in cloth. The peculiarity that makes these nativity statues unique is that they communicate with each other and with the observer through the look and the facial expressions. Each statue is depicted at a precise and particular moment in their everyday life, telling us about their life, before and after that moment. Details such as muscles or expression lines, as well as hands in particular positions (open and with well-defined fingers) often emerge clearly.
