The origin of the Christmas balls dates back to the mid-1800s when in a village in French Lorraine, due to drought they remained without the apples with which they traditionally adorned the Christmas tree. A glassmaker from that village then had the genius to blow glass balls and color them, to avoid the lack of apples and not deprive the children of the joy of a beautiful Christmas tree.
