Russian icon of Virgin Console My Pain 14x10 cm. Faithful 14x10 cm reproduction of the Virgin ''Console My Sorrows'', a Russian icon dating back to the 18th century. It is a panel in solid lime wood, covered with gold leaf and hand painted with tempera colors according to the principles of the Byzantine-Russian school. The Madonna is depicted here holding her son who seems to float in his mother's womb as he has no support. Mary's face is characterized by closed lips and sad and at the same time very sweet eyes, which are turned inwards ready to welcome every prayer, every pain and every cry. Our Lady does not even look at her son, despite having her face slightly bowed, aware of the fact that that child belongs to humanity and to Her Father.Jesus is depicted with the facial features of an adult while holding an open parchment in his hands, symbolizing the word of God.On the golden background we can read the Greek initials of the two subjects, respectively ''He who is'' and ''Mother of God''.On the back of the icon, which has two supports to prevent time and humidity from bending the table, there is a brief description of its history, a guarantee certificate and a ring that allows you to hang the icon.
