Saint Pantaleon was born in Nicomedia in the 2nd century, he became a doctor and was instructed by the priest Ermelao in the care and salvation of souls. The torture had no effect and he beheaded him. Since then, Saint Pantaleon, the patron saint of doctors and midwives, has been venerated as a saint by numerous Christian churches and is considered one of the fourteen helper saints.
